The 400-500cc scrambler segment is all set to get even more interesting when the Hero Mavrick 440 Scrambler arrives

Hero MotoCorp has trademarked the name: Mavrick 440 Scrambler, which suggests that the manufacturer is working on developing a scrambler version of its neo-retro roadster. The status of the trademark is listed as ‘Marked For Exam’, meaning it has been assigned to an examiner to determine if it could be trademarked.

As a scrambler, we expect the upcoming bike to get changes such as simpler body panels, a bench seat, headlight grille and a braced handlebar. The 440cc, single-cylinder engine powering the Hero Mavrick 440 is already quite a torquey unit and we think its tuning will be left unchanged for the scrambler. The same goes for the 175mm ground clearance as it is good enough to handle off-road patches. It is likely to get block-pattern tyres with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheel setup.

The rest of the bike is expected to remain unchanged. It should get the same suspension setup consisting of a 43mm telescopic fork and 7-step preload-adjustable twin shocks, both with 130mm wheel travel. The all-LED lighting setup and the LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity will most likely be carried over to the Mavrick 440 Scrambler as well.

The upcoming bike is expected to fetch a price tag of Rs 2.20 lakh (ex-showroom) and will likely be launched towards the end of 2024 or early 2025. Its rivals will be the Triumph Scrambler 400 X, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, Yezdi Scrambler and the Royal Enfield Scram 411
