BMW’s flagship 7 series has now been launched with new electric and diesel powertrain options. The all-electric i7 now gets a range topping M70 xDrive variant, priced at Rs 2.5 crore. Meanwhile the ICE-equipped 7 Series gets a 3-litre diesel engine, with prices starting from Rs. 1.81 crore. Let's dive into the details without wasting any time.

The BMW i7 M70 xDrive is the most powerful all-electric M division car from the Bavarian carmaker. It features dual electric motors mounted on each axle, good for 660PS and a whooping 1100Nm. BMW claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.7 seconds along with a top speed of 250kmph (electronically limited).
Fuelling these electric motors is a 101.7kWh battery that is sufficient for 560km. Apart from that, the i7 M70 also gets exclusive design and features, details of which you can find in our in-depth unveiling story.

Until now, the ICE-powered 7 Series always came with a petrol engine which, let’s be honest, wasn’t the most frugal. However, for those who want a more fuel-efficient alternative, BMW has introduced the diesel model, which comes with a 3-litre 6-cylinder engine good for 286PS and 650Nm. This is sufficient to propel the sedan to a ton from standstill in 6 seconds, all the way up to 250kmph.

The rest of the 7 Series is similar to the petrol model, whose details you can find in the India-spec model’s launch story.

The i7 is rivalled by Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan while the 7 Series competes with Mercedes S Class and the Audi A8L in the Indian market.
