Ahead of its global unveiling, Audi has revealed the interior of its upcoming flagship SUV, called the Q9. While essentially being the luxurious family-hauler that it is meant to be, it does not compromise upon the cutting-edge technology and sportiness that you come to expect from the Audi brand. Let’s take a look at all we know so far about the Q9:
While the carmaker has not revealed the full exterior design of the luxury SUV, we can see some of the design touches in the camouflaged car shown. Up front, it gets a massive gloss black grille with an illuminated Audi logo and a hexagonal pattern for the detailing. Flanking this are slim DRL strips with pixelated detailing and large rectangular headlamp clusters. You also have a sporty-looking lower air dam on the bumper.

In profile, the Q9 follows a more traditional boxy silhouette compared to the crossover-ish stance of its smaller siblings, the Q7 and Q8. You can also see large, prominent roof rails and massive chrome alloy wheels with low-profile tyres.

Towards the rear-end, there is a connected LED taillamp setup with a unique signature. Interestingly, even the rear Audi logo is illuminated for a unique touch. Below, it gets a layered look for the bumper and quad exhaust tips to round off its practical, yet sporty appearance.

Unlike the exterior, we now have a detailed look into how the Q9 looks inside. Starting from the dashboard layout, you get a three-screen setup comprising a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and a secondary passenger entertainment screen as well. Besides this, there are gloss black surrounds all around and slim central AC vents beneath the infotainment for a sleek look.

Moving on to the centre console, there are two wireless charging pads, the push button start/stop and the electronic parking brake switch. In the configuration showcased here, the SUV also gets carbon-fibre trim and a closed storage space in the middle. Also note the physical controls for important functions have also been placed here.

You also get sports seats for the first and second row passengers and rich-looking white quilted upholstery inside.

The Q9 also gets an extensive ambient lighting setup encompassing the dashboard, doors and even the panoramic sunroof for a futuristic effect.

From the pictures, we can confirm that the Q9 will get features such as dual wireless phone chargers, a three-screen setup, panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, powered, ventilated and heated seats for first and second rows, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, electronic release for the doors and drive modes.

In terms of safety, it is likely to be offered with multiple airbags, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, a Level 2 ADAS suite and a lot more.
Audi has not revealed the powertrain options for the Q9, but it is expected to get multiple options including turbo-petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powerplants. It could also get a high-performance version powered by the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, from its siblings like the SQ8 and SQ7.
While details are not out yet, expect the Q9 to be fully revealed in the next few months with a global launch slated for later this year. However, you can expect it to reach our shores only by the second-half of 2027. It is expected to be priced from Rs 1.50 Crore (ex-showroom)

The Audi Q9 will rival other large luxury SUVs like the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Land Rover Defender 130.
Till now, Audi has lacked a true competitor in the 7-seater flagship SUV space, and the Q9 plugs this increasingly important gap in its portfolio. On the surface of it, this SUV seems to deliver a truly luxurious experience blending Audi’s futuristic design and feature-set with proper family-hauling sensibilities. However, the jury is still out and stay tuned to ZigWheels for more details on the Q9 as and when they are revealed.
