Mahindra is readying the 2022 Scorpio N, the third-generation model of the Scorpio, for launch in India on June 16. The exterior looks sporty and premium than the second-generation model, which will be sold alongside as the Scorpio Classic. Now, we have come to know that the Scorpio N, the series production of which is expected to commence soon, will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Chakan facility.

Mahindra’s Chakan factory is one of the SUV giant’s most advanced facilities. This particular plant manufactures models like the Bolero Neo, Alturas G4 and the XUV700. The Scorpio N will currently be the third body-on-frame vehicle to be manufactured here after the Bolero Neo and Alturas G4.

The Scorpio N will boast plentiful premium features like dual zone climate control, the 8-inch touchscreen unit from the base XUV700, connected car tech, a Sony sound system, a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charger and up to six airbags. Features like cruise control, a multi-info display, and keyless entry will be carried forward as well.

Under the hood, the Scorpio N will house either a 2-litre turbo-petrol or a 2.2-litre diesel engine, whose power figures sit between the Thar and XUV700, based on the model chosen. Both motors will get the choice of a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, as well as rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options.

The Scorpio N is expected to be priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with the Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, VW Taigun, Hyundai Creta, and the Kia Seltos.
