It will be offered with the 2.2-litre diesel and 2-litre turbo-petrol engines from the Thar and XUV700, albeit in different tunes

2022 Scorpio to launch on June 27.
2.2-litre diesel engine to be offered in two tunes: 130PS and 160PS.
2-litre turbo-petrol mill to put out around 170PS.
Both petrol and diesel engines will be offered with a four-wheel drivetrain.
Prices expected to start from Rs 10 lakh.

Information about the new Scorpio-N is coming in thick and fast ahead of its launch on June 27. Earlier, we had reported that the SUV would be offered with Mahindra’s familiar 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines with power figures similar to the XUV700. Now, our sources in the know have revealed a close estimate of the upcoming ladder frame SUV’s power figures.

Starting with the diesel, the 2.2-litre mill is to be offered in two tunes: 130PS and 160PS. The former is a direct lift from the Thar and will be limited to the lower-spec trim. On the other hand, the petrol engine will churn out around 170PS. The XUV700’s engines put out a tad more power than the Scorpio-N as seen in the table below.

The Scorpio-N will be offered with manual and automatic transmission options as well as rear-wheel and four-wheel drivetrains. What’s more? The petrol variants will also get a four-wheel drivetrain option, so off-road enthusiasts can have two choices: Diesel 4WD and Petrol 4WD.
