Tata Motors has confirmed that the long range Nexon EV, which has been teased for the first time, will be called the ‘Nexon EV Max.’ Slated to launch on May 11, the Nexon EV Max will get an updated powertrain set up, minor visual differentiations, and probably, new feature additions. Plus, considering that the long range model now gets its own name, it’s quite evident that it’ll be sold alongside the standard.
The first teaser doesn’t spill out much details, but it does confirm the fact that the Nexon EV Max will get a Park Mode, a feature absent in the standard car. Plus, the long range variant will get a bespoke set of 5-dual spoke alloy rims and rear disc brakes for better stopping power. Apart from that, Tata’s trademark blue highlights for its EVs is present here as well.

The main update will naturally be underneath the skin as the Nexon EV Max will likely get a 40kWh battery pack. This could be teamed up with a more powerful 136PS (+7PS) as revealed by a Delhi RTO document. Considering the minor power increment and a larger battery pack, the Max should have an improvement in the ARAI-claimed range over the standard car’s 312km figure.
Like before, the electric vehicle should support fast charging options. Plus, it could get adjustable regenerative braking, which replenishes the lost charge in the battery while decelerating.

The Nexon EV Max could get certain new features like ventilated front seats, cruise control, an air purifier, auto-dimming IRVM, and electronic stability control. All these features are offered in the ICE-powered SUV. Features like the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, sunroof, and a semi-digital instrument cluster will be carried forward.

The Nexon EV long range will command a sizable premium over the standard SUV that’s priced from Rs 14.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It will still be more affordable than more premium EVs like the Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV.
