The Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Korean marque’s most expensive car here till date, has achieved its first milestone on our shores. It has touched the 1,000-unit sales mark within a year of its introduction. The premium EV was launched at Auto Expo 2023 and has a killer price tag, thanks to local assembly.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is currently priced at Rs 45.95 lakh (ex-showroom) on our shores. Bringing a car through the completely knocked down (CKD) route means it’s bound to attract lower taxes than a fully imported model. For example, the Kia EV6 RWD, which is the Ioniq 5’s direct rival and is brought as a completely built unit (CBU), is a whopping Rs 15 lakh more expensive than the Hyundai.

Another talking point about the Ioniq 5 is its expansive features list. On offer are dual 12.3-inch screens for the touchscreen infotainment and digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, a Bose sound system, panoramic glass roof, powered front and rear seats and a wireless phone charger. 

As for passenger safety, you get six airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and most importantly, ADAS.

Propelling the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a 217PS e-motor that drives the rear wheels. It takes its fuel from a 72.6kWh battery pack, which offers an ARAI-claimed range of 631km. On max attack, the Ioniq 5 does 0-100kmph in 7.6 seconds.
