At the Mahindra EV Fashion Festival, the carmaker has unveiled a new concept electric SUV called the BE Rall-E. Mahindra’s BE sub-brand will have only EVs in its lineup, starting with the BE 05 SUV launching around October 2025. The BE 05 is also the basis for the Rall-E, but it has been extensively modified for overlanding.
Here’s all you need to know about the electric SUV:
The Rall-E looks cool indeed with its bright fluorescent green paintwork, multi-coloured graphics and that pixellated splatter of green paint below the DRLs. Lower down, there’s a proper off-roading bumper with a skid plate and a bright-orange tow hook, flanked by large auxiliary lights not present on the BE 05 EV.
Most of the Rall-E EV’s modifications are functional and would come in handy while off-roading. Modified front bumper and skid plate aside, the Rall-E also has steel wheels with chunky all-terrain tyres, a large roof rack for carrying spares and equipment, a higher ground clearance than the BE 05; and conventional outer rearview mirrors (the BE 05 concept has rearview cameras).
Based on the BE 05, the Rall-E SUV is built on the Mahindra INGLO platform that shares some components with Volkswagen’s MEB modular electric toolkit. This ground-up EV platform supports EV powertrains in both rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.
The dual-motor AWD, rugged hardware should allow the BE Rall-E to go off-road. Existing Mahindra models such as the Thar and Scorpio-N already get electronic aids such as hill descent control and brake-based differentials that can enhance the off-roading capability of EVs and ICE vehicles alike.
The exact specs will be revealed closer to the SUV’s unveiling in 2025, but for now, we do know that the BE 05 will have long-range battery options with capacities of up to 80kWh, good for up to around 450km of range. The SUV will also have fast-charging capability of up to 175kW.

The BE Rall-E concept is likely only a showcase of the carmaker’s technology and won’t make it to production. Nevertheless, the BE 05 is destined for a launch in late 2025 as a Hyundai Creta-sized compact electric SUV.
