2025 BYD Atto 3 vs Mahindra BE 6: Compact Electric SUVs Face Off

BYD has updated the Atto 3 electric SUV with features like ventilated seats and a slightly tweaked interior. While it's a minor upgrade, it enhances the appeal of an already well-rounded package. However, it competes in the same segment as the newly launched Mahindra BE 6, which is drawing attention with its bold design and competitive pricing.

Dimensions

Despite being longer in length, the BYD Atto 3 not only has a shorter wheelbase than the Mahindra BE 6 but is also smaller in every other dimension. It is narrower and shorter than the BE 6 by 32 mm and 12 mm, respectively. You will also get more interior space in the BE 6, as it boasts a 55 mm longer wheelbase.

Features

Both the Atto 3 and the BE 6 are loaded with features, however, the BE 6 stands out with its premium amenities, including an augmented reality-based heads-up display, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and dual wireless charging pads for front-row passengers. 

It also offers unique features like a selfie camera with photo and video modes, a 'Groove Me' mode that syncs lights with music, and a 'Dog Mode' to keep the AC running while your pet is in the vehicle. Recently, the Atto 3 was updated with ventilated seats which is also offered with the BE 6. 

Powertrain Specifications

With its larger battery capacity, the Mahindra BE 6 delivers better power output as well as a higher claimed range than the BYD Atto 3. Both electric SUVs come with two battery pack options, however, the BE 6 features a rear-wheel-drive system, making it quicker and smoother to drive.

Price and Rivals

Mahindra's aggressive pricing for the BE 6 allows it to undercut the BYD Atto 3 by Rs 6 lakh in their respective base variants, while the price difference between the top-spec variants of both electric SUVs is around Rs 7 lakh. The Atto 3 serves as a premium alternative to the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Tata Curvv EV, whereas the BE 6 competes with them directly.

Verdict

All in all, with better interior space, more features, a stronger powertrain lineup, and aggressive pricing, the Mahindra BE 6 emerges as the better pick of the two. However, its polarizing design and certain extra features that some may find gimmicky work against it. This is where the BYD Atto 3 holds an advantage, offering a more elegant and subtle design while still delivering a feature-loaded cabin and a claimed range of over 450 km.
