Hyundai Elite i20 2020 Latest Updates
Hyundai has been testing the third-gen i20 hatchback in Europe and a new batch of spy shots has revealed a lot more details about the car.
The new spy shots reveal a redesigned front-end similar to the Sonata. Cosmetic changes include a bigger grille, redesigned headlights and LED projector fog lamps. The rear may be heavily camouflaged, but it shows that the next-gen i20 will get smaller LED tail lights while the license plate will be positioned at the rear bumper. While interior shots and details haven’t been revealed yet, the next-gen i20 is expected to be loaded with features, including Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car tech.
Under the hood, the next-gen i20 is expected to retain the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines from its predecessor. It could also get the 1.0-litre turbocharged engine from the Venue. Apart from the current set of 5- and 6-speed manual gearboxes and the CVT, expect the next-gen i20 to borrow the DCT from the Venue for its 1.0-litre turbo-petrol variant.
The next-gen i20 is expected to be launched around mid-2020. It is likely to be priced at a premium over the previous gen i20 due to its additional features. When launched, it will compete with Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and Tata’s upcoming Altroz.
