Hyundai has officially unveiled the Ioniq V at the Beijing Motor Show and it’s a sleek electric production version sedan of the recently revealed Venus concept and marks the beginning of Hyundai’s aggressive new strategy for China. While it shares the Ioniq name, it is a completely different product from the global Ioniq lineup. Here’s everything you need to know:

Hyundai Ioniq V: Exterior

The Ioniq V looks almost identical to the Venus concept and that’s a good thing. It features a low-slung, wedge-shaped design that immediately stands out like the Lamborghini Countach meets Toyota’s Prius. The sharp nose, sloping roofline and clean surfaces give it a very aerodynamic and futuristic look.

Up front, it gets razor-thin LED headlamps that form a distinctive lighting signature. The overall fascia is clean and minimal, with a strong focus on efficiency.

From the side, the Ioniq V gets frameless doors, flush surfaces and floating mirrors, all of which help reduce drag. The long wheelbase and stretched proportions give it a strong road presence.

At the rear, the sloping roofline flows into a sharp tail section, completing the fastback-like silhouette. The design feels bold and very different from Hyundai’s current lineup.

Hyundai Ioniq V: Interior 

Step inside and the Ioniq V takes a completely different approach compared to conventional cars. The cabin is extremely minimal, with almost no physical controls.

The highlight is a massive 27-inch 4K panoramic display that stretches across the dashboard and handles most of the functions. There is no traditional instrument cluster, with driving information instead shown via a heads-up display.

The steering wheel gets touch-sensitive controls, while the rest of the cabin focuses on clean surfaces and a lounge-like feel. Hyundai has also added ambient lighting and a premium audio system with Dolby Atmos support. Overall, the interior feels very tech-forward and clearly designed with a digital-first approach.

Hyundai Ioniq V: Powertrain & Range

Hyundai has not revealed complete technical specifications yet, but it has confirmed that the Ioniq V will offer a claimed range of over 600 km (CLTC cycle).

The EV is expected to be built on an advanced architecture, focusing on efficiency, comfort and refinement. The suspension is also said to be tuned for better ride quality, while improvements in insulation should result in a quieter cabin experience.

The Ioniq V is Hyundai’s first dedicated Ioniq model developed specifically for China and signals Hyundai’s long-term commitment to the market.
