Expert's Opinion on XPulse 210
Overview
The Mountain Goat
- The Hero XPulse 210 is a successor to the XPulse 200. The motorcycle steps up significantly in terms of looks as well as performance from its predecessor. It now gets the engine from the Karizma 210 which is significantly more powerful than the 200’s.
Design
A Good-looking Dual Sport
- The Hero XPulse 210 gets an all-new design with the new tank shrouds and fresh looking fascia along with a well-designed tail section
- The motorcycle looks like a proper dual-sport motorcycle thanks to its tall stance, front beak and tall front visor
- It is offered in 4 colour options: Wild Red, Glacier White, Alpine Silver, Azure Blue
Performance & Mileage
Powerful Enough
- The XPulse 210 gets the same engine as the Karizma XMR 210
- It’s retuned and now makes 24.6 and 20.7Nm which is significantly more than the XPulse 200
- Along with this, it also gets a 6-speed gearbox which has slightly improved its highway performance
- The rear sprocket gets 4 teeth more than XPulse 200 which has resulted in better acceleration
- The mid-range is not that strong as there's not much grunt between 4,000rpm to 7,000rpm
- At 100kmph the engine feels quite noisy
Handling
Handles Well For An Adventure Bike
- The XPulse 210 gets a conventional fork and rear monoshock with preload adjustability
- It gets 210mm front and 205mm rear suspension travel which is quite impressive
- The motorcycle handles quite well and stays fairly planted doing triple digit speeds
- Thanks to the big 21-inch front spoke wheel, it also handles rough terrain with ease
- XPulse 210 gets a 276mm front and 220mm rear petal disc brake setup with dual channel ABS
Ride Quality
Magic Carpet Ride
- The suspension setup on the XPulse 210 is very well-tuned to take on the baddest of roads
- The setup is not plush but it soaks in all the undulations and bumps with ease
- It’s easy to ride in the city or on the trails
- The rear suspension feels quite stiff at higher speeds on rough roads or bumps
Comfort & Storage
A Comfortable Riding Experience
- XPulse 210 gets a 830mm seat height which is fairly tall, but thanks to its slim build it is to get your foot down
- The seat is quite comfortable, even for the pillion
Features
Gets All The Essentials
- The XPulse 210 gets a 4.2-inch TFT display which supports smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth
- It shows turn-by-turn navigation and SMS & Call alerts
- It gets a dual-channel ABS system along with 3 modes: Road, Trail and Off-road
Verdict
Should you buy the Hero XPulse 210?
- The XPulse 210 with the updated engine and gearbox now offers the performance the 200 never had
- It’s more of a dual-sport than an adventure motorcycle
- Good for a first off-road/dual-sport bike
- While it’s expensive, it has a good value-for-money quotient
- The proper XPulse adventure bike will be the XPulse 421
