Q. I am 6ft 1inch tall and planning a compact sedan. I am slightly inclined towards Amaze and Aura. I'll be driving and rarely shifting to the rear seats. Which of the two would be a better suited for me? Prefered Fuel type - Petrol, Not looking for a daily commuter but more of a weekend/outstation ride so can do with Manual aswell, but no compromise on comfortable smooth ride and mileage.
  • I have recently bought Amaze cvt petrol BS6 model for my Dad, we have been using Maruti and Tata brand for the past 30 Yrs, this is first time we have changed brand, Honda Amaze is best car, this has got best Honda Engine in the world, I-Vtec is Honda flag ship engine, this engine is so refined and this can run for 11 lakh kilometers, if maintained and properly serviced, i have seen couple of youtube videos on this engine, and in realtime, in dubai one taxi driver was using Honda city petrol 2002 model which has got same engine i-vtec, meter reading was 4.8 lakh kilometers he was telling he never opened this engine, just changing engine oil, sprak plugs on time, major breakdown for him was Automatic transmission change. And every 90k kilometers timing belt change is required. Ok coming to my experience on amaze, this has got robust and refined engine, Average fuel shown in meter is 9.5 Kmpl, but in real time i am getting 13 km, just clocked only 1000km, need to wait till second service. But i have done a big mistake, instead of going for Petrol i would have gone for diesel cvt, it is so much refined then petrol. Interior quality is good, safety wise 5 star rating. Pick up is good and torquy engine, rear seat comfort is good.
  • Automatic Trim: Amaze > Aura Looks: Personal: Amaze > AuraManual: Turbo charged Aura > AmazeMileage: Aura > AmazeFeatures: Aura > AmazeBuild: Amaze > AuraComfort: I haven't driven Aura but Amaze feels comfortable and spacious. If you can wait go for Facelift version of Amaze which is yet to come next year, and by then Aura will mature a bit to have a better opinion.
  • If you are tall then you might have issue with driving Aura. Driving seats are raised so you'd need to bend your neck a bit to get a good view of the road besides Aura front seats are too curved with no adjustable headrest. I got cervical because of it. Now I always put a pillow when driving long

Q. Which variant is best in Honda Amaze
  • Diesel and Petrol are equally good, however, it depends on your use, what you should buy. If you are using the car for 40 to 50 KM commute per day then better buy a Diesel car. The price wise Diesel Amaze is more expensive to Petrol Amaze. Nowadays , the priced difference between Petrol and Diesel is hardly ten rupees per liter.,
  • In Honda Amaze all variants are good with respect to Safety .In Cars safety comes first . It is offered Dual front air bag, ABS+EBD , Rear parking sensors, iso fix child sets and day night view mirror,Power steering are offered uniform across all models. it is offered in four variants S,E,V and Vx . Vx is the top variant offers best value for money. The E variant is High on economy . In our view S variant will be a good option. May choose accordingly as per your budget .
  • Honda S. Price difference of S and V is 50k, but S and V has only three ignorable difference. Fog lamp, Reverse cam and auto AC. No practical difference in Auto AC and manual in car.I had installed branded Fog lamp and reverse cam in 4k only.

Q. I am looking for automatic car and confused between Honda Amaze VX CVT and Nexon XMA. My budget is 10 lakh. Both of these cars are from different segment. Is it better to go for basic SUV like XMA which comes with AMT or need to select feature loaded car Amaze which comes with CVT?
  • Don't go for Nexon XMA. mileage is biggest issue... It does not give mileage more than 9 in city conditions and its Automatic Transmission is also not that good.. Honda is far better than Tata in terms of technology.
  • Without thinking too much buy amaze cvt diesel, you feel happy for long run,i am about to complete 3 years in aug 2021,superb car, excellent mileage, spacious, excellent combo of diesel + cvt
  • If you are giving more priority for the safety point of view Nexon is best. Just a CVT transmission is not going to save anyone in an undesirable condition.
