The all-new Benelli Imperiale 400 has been launched in India, at a price of Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom). It takes on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Jawa, and is a CKD import, with several components being localised. The Imperiale 400 features a 374cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 21PS and 29Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox which, unlike the new Jawa, does not feature a slipper clutch. The Imperiale features a 19-inch front/18-inch rear tyre (both tube-type) and a dual-channel ABS is offered standard. The Imperiale is available in 3 colours - silver, maroon and black - and deliveries are expected to commence soon, from all of the 26 dealerships Benelli has in India.
