We Decode The First Spy Shots Of The Tata Curvv

The first images of the Tata Curvv test mule have surfaced online. For the unknown, the Curvv will be Tata’s answer to the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara. The EV concept debuted in April 2022, while the ICE (internal combustion engine) version was revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo. The Curvv will be introduced as an EV first in 2024, followed by its ICE version. 

What The Spy Shots Say?

The test mule was draped in heavy camouflage, so making out the finer design details is tough, but here’s what we can make out: It gets an upright nose featuring a sleek closed-off grille housing the Tata logo and above it should be the full-width LED light bar. Zoom in closer and you could see an opening below that in the huge air dam, which suggests this could be the ICE version on test. The headlamps are also mounted below the DRLs on the side, flanking the grille.

On the side, the highlight is the coupe-like roofline that lends the Curvv a nice and sporty look. Its stance is also rugged, thanks to the chunky wheel cladding around the humongous wheel arches filled out by large 5-split-spoke alloys. The rear-end of the car, though masked, should get a raked windshield featuring connected LED tail lamps and a chunky bumper.

How Will Its Interior Look Like?

The interior of the Curvv is yet to be snapped. But looking at how the exterior is nearly identical to the concept, it’s safe to expect the same for the interior as well. The concept featured a minimalist layout in the cabin highlighted by the two floating screens for the digital driver’s display and touchscreen infotainment system. It also featured a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and touch-based climate controls. 

Underpinnings And Mechanicals 

The Tata Curvv will be based on the carmaker’s Gen 2 architecture that supports both EV and ICE powertrains. Technical specifications of the EV version aren’t fully out yet, but Tata said it will have a range of 400km to 500km. As for the ICE, it will get the carmaker’s new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine and Tata hinted it could get a dual-clutch automatic transmission. 

Expected Price And Rivals

As we mentioned earlier, the Curvv EV will go on sale first followed by its ICE version. The EV, likely to be priced from around Rs 20 lakh, will be a MG ZS EV rival. On the other hand, its ICE version, which could start from around Rs 10 lakh, will lock horns with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Skoda Kushaq.
