Each and every time the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door has been snapped by the automotive paparazzi, there is something new that comes to light. This time around, the elongated Thar has been snapped in its production-spec form, showcasing three colour options that will be available with the off-roader.
Let’s get cracking without wasting any more time.
Despite these particular examples sporting heavy camouflage, you can notice that the three vehicles sport different hues: red, white and black. By the looks of it, these colour options are largely the same as the one available in the current Thar 3-door. Apart from these three colours, the 5-door Thar could get more options as well, just like the standard 3-door Thar does.

You can also notice the production-spec LED headlights with round DRLs, fender-mounted turn indicators and the restyled grille behind the camouflage. Earlier test mules have revealed that the off-roader will sport dual-tone alloys, while the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate now gets a cover.
While the overall dashboard design and layout is similar to the smaller Thar, earlier spy shots have revealed a couple of differences such as the steering wheel, which has been lifted off from the XUV700 and Scorpio N.

It will also get plentiful feature additions, including a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry with push button start and a sunroof (likely to be panoramic). Apart from that, the Thar 5-door could get additional kit such as dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, six airbags (as standard) and even select ADAS features.
The Mahindra Thar 5-door should get the 150 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol and 132 PS 2.2-litre diesel engine from the current model, probably with a bump up in power. It will be offered with six-speed manual and torque converter automatic options as well as rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

One can expect prices of the Mahindra Thar 5-door, likely to start from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), to be out on August 15. It will lock horns with the Force Gurkha 5-door and will be a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
