The smaller Tiger will now get a larger 900cc triple motor

[UPDATE: Triumph has launched the Tiger 900 in India with prices starting from Rs 13.70 lakh (ex-showroom India). Head here for details.]

  • New motor will meet forthcoming Euro 5/BS6 emission norms.
  • Will arrive in Rally and GT variants.
  • Expect India arrival mid-2020.

It is nearly the end of the line for the Tiger 800 as Triumph is readying to take the wraps off its successor, the Tiger 900. Apart from the rise in displacement, the new Tiger 900 features a leaner silhouette, suggesting the new motorcycle will be lighter and slimmer than its predecessor.

A couple of months ago, the Tiger 900 was spotted testing in Europe. The test mule was spotted with a new pair of LED eyes, which the teaser images corroborate. Thanks to the slim face, the Tiger 900 gives off a compact vibe, even if there is no change to the bike’s dimensions.

The Tiger 900 is claimed to get a new bolt-on subframe, a new aluminium swingarm and sidewall-laced spoke rims. The larger motor should pump out north of 110PS and is likely to get a gamut of rider aids.

Previously, the Tiger 800 was sold in XR and XC variants, which will now be called GT and Rally on the 900 model. Expect both ranges of the new Tigers to have a couple of models with varied components. The Tigers may come to India by mid-2020, with new prices are likely to be between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 16 lakh.
