Toyota India’s latest offering in the MPV segment, the Vellfire, has been showcased in the country at a private event ahead of launch. It is expected that the Vellfire will be brought in via the CBU route from Thailand. In addition to this, some snippets of the MPV have also been leaked from a brochure, revealing a plethora of features the Vellfire could get.

At first glance, the Indian Vellfire looks similar to the one that is offered in South Asian markets. Key exterior features of the MPV include split headlamps with LED daytime running lights integrated into the lower lights, chrome grille, chrome bar and a large air dam with triangular fog lamp pods. Other exterior features include auto ORVMs, 18-inch alloy wheels and two-part rear end.

The spy images reveal that on the inside, the Vellfire is expected to get leather upholstery, a touchscreen infotainment system integrated into the centre console, layered dashboard with faux wooden trim and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The brochure reveals other interior highlights like  heated and ventilated memory seats with an Ottoman full-recline function, twin moonroof, sunshades, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, individual seat tables and seven airbags.

Under the hood, it is expected that the India-spec Vellfire will be powered by a  2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine mated to a CVT automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system. This engine delivers around 180 PS of power along with 235 Nm of torque.

There isn’t a fixed date for when Toyota will bring the Vellfire to Indian markets, but it is expected to arrive towards the end of the current year. It is also expected to have a price tag of above Rs. 80 lakh. Once launched,  it is likely to go up against rivals like the Mercedes-Benz V-Class MPV among others.
