Top 5 Performance Cars To Debut At Geneva Motor Show 2017

The Geneva Motor Show has always been a mecca for petrolheads. Right from small hatchbacks to all-new supercars and concepts, the auto extravagance has it all. In the past, the motor show has brought us cars like the Bugatti Chiron, Lamborghini Centenario and the Pagani Huayra BC. This year, the 87th Geneva Motor Show will take place from March 9 to 19, in the Swiss city of Geneva and will feature these five highly anticipated performance cars which the world has not seen yet. Needless to say that the cars you see in the images are the ones which are currently on sale.

1. Porsche 911 GT3 facelift

Having been spied numerous times while testing, the 2017 911 GT3 facelift will make its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The biggest and most important change in this model is that it will be available with a manual transmission while having an option for the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic as well. Some reports also say that the new GT3 will pack a 4.0-litre flat six engine, which will produce close to 500PS of power. Well, this looks like something which the Porsche purists might go gaga over.

Compared to the current model, it gets a tweaked front face with a new front spoiler, aggressive air intakes and new LED indicators. At the rear, it remains pretty much identical to the older model but gets a new diffuser. For more details, we will have to wait for the official reveal.

2. McLaren P14

McLaren 650S

For the first time in McLaren history, a car family is being replaced by a new generation. A successor to the 650S, the codenamed “P14” sports car will be lighter, agiler and faster than the current generation. Earlier, McLaren teased the new lightweight, carbon fibre monocoque of the upcoming car with a lower centre of gravity, which will impart better stability and cornering ability to the car.

The upcoming car will most likely continue to feature the twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 from the current McLaren lineup, but with a power bump. As far as the competition goes, the second generation of the Super Series will continue to rival the Ferrari 488 GTB.

3. Lamborghini Huracán Performante

Ditching the Superleggera moniker, the new performance-focused Lamborghini will bear the “Performante” nameplate. Essentially a go-fast version of the baby Lambo, the Huracán Performante is pegged to be one of the fastest Lamborghini yet around the Nürburgring. And, as it will be competing with the sub-seven-minute-Nürburgring-lap of the 740 horsepower Aventador SV, it needs to be crazy fast. Apart from shedding weight, the Huracán Performante will also get active aerodynamics which Lamborghini is calling the Aerodynamica Lamborghini Attiva, or ALA.

4. Ferrari F12 M

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Continuing on body-type of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, the 2017 Ferrari F12 M (rumoured name) will witness a bump of power from the current 740PS. This will be achieved by the use of a reworked naturally aspirated V12 engine from the F12 Berlinetta. The increase in power could be about 10-15PS, bringing it close to the output of the crazy F12TDF. Earlier, there were rumours that the F12's replacement will also have a hybrid powertrain but, as the Geneva reveal gets closer, these have faded away and will most likely be introduced later in the F12M's life cycle. In India, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is priced at Rs 4.71 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).

5. Pagani Huayra Roadster

Pagani Huayra Roadster

One of the most anticipated exotic cars of the show, the Huayra Roadster will be the latest edition in a long list of cars from the Italian manufacturer. Though there have been many iterations of their models, Pagani has only sold about 300 cars since 24 years its inception. Replacing the Zonda, the Huayra became the company's second flagship sportscar. While most of the open-top cars suffer in performance, the Huayra Roadster could become one of the fastest open-top cars in the world with its all-carbon fibre chassis, bodywork and aggressive aerodynamics. Though the car still carries the twin-turbocharged V12 AMG motor, there will be a slight drop in performance and the gull-wing doors will be whole-heartedly missed.
