It's a good month for hatchback shopping as there are some very tempting deals and discounts on offer
This might just be the last month of the excise duty cuts that the previous government implemented in February. I’m not saying the lower excise duty will not stay but there is a chance of a roll back. Meanwhile, car sales are on a upswing as well so car manufacturers may not resort to the kind of discounts you can see now, moving forward. Here are a look at the best deals and discounts on offer in June 2014. Spend your money wisely!
1.Fiat Grande Punto
The Fiat hatchback is central to Fiat India’s revival in India and the Italian carmaker is making noticeable effort to improve the company’s image in the country by focusing on the sales and service front. Moreover, it is a good time to buy a Punto because discounts are rangine between Rs 87,000-95,000 and quite frankly, these are unheard of numbers for a hatchback. A Punto facelift is coming soon so this can be seen as a move to clear stocks as well.
Another car that’s up for a facelift is the Polo. The Polo receives its first major refresh next month since its launch a few years ago and so the company is looking at clearing the current Polo’s stock rapidly. This discount won’t last beyond the month or two so grab it while you have a chance if a facelifted car is not something you mind worth waiting for. The discounts are available on only the comfortline and highline variants though.
We see a trend shaping up here. Tata Motors is readying the Bolt hatchback which is a massive update on the Vista platform, comes with an all new design inside and out and is naturally going to make the Vista more dated than it ever has been. So you can expect official price drops and a few variants knocked off the Vista line-up once the Bolt is launched next month. Till then, here are the discounts doing the rounds.
The Ritz has pretty much been running on auto-pilot mode as all the attention goes to its more glamorous siblings. The hatchback is not almost a full generation old to the new Swift and so it isn’t easy to push it off the shelves. So Maruti is now offering a discount of Rs 53,000 on the Ritz. Since it shares the same engines with the Swift, and has more space on the inside, the Ritz is well worth a look at current discounted prices.
Maruti’s Wagon R is having it tough now. The Celerio is proving to be quite a hit and it steps on the Wagon R’s shoes since it shares engines, the manual gearbox and more. So you get hefty discounts on this budget hatchback to keep sales afloat. This is the best deals and discounts available on the Wagon R since a very long time.
Chevrolet continues to offer handsome discounts on the Beat. In June, discounts and offers for the diesel Beat is set at Rs 40,000 and the Petrol Beat gets offer bundles worth Rs 48,000. Agreed the Beat isn’t one of the most sought after cars in the hatchback segment at present but these offers can’t be ignored.
Maruti’s bread and butter model is facing the heat from newcomers like the Datsun Go. Even the Eon is a good bargain with a 1-litre engine option. As a result, the 800 is being offered with a sizeable Rs 43,000 discount that includes a Rs 30,000 cash discount.
We’ve recently seen the next generation Figo which will be the Ford Ka hatchback and sedan to replace the current Figo by next year. This is a clear indication of the Figo’s age catching up, especially in the styling department. Hence Ford is offering free insurance, an exchange bonus and a corporate discount bundle to lure customers. It’s still a very nice car to drive and is attractively priced anyway, so the discounts sure work as a cherry on top.
Hyundai’s i20 has been a popular car over the years and it continues to sell well. But people are getting aware now that the new i20 is just around the corner and so the Korean carmaker is finding fewer takers. Discounts as a result have gone up on the i20 to a flat Rs 40,000 across all variants.
Last on the top ten is the Chevrolet Sail U-Va. It’s made for the value conscious customer and may not be too flamboyant but is a decent budget hatchback with plenty of space on the inside nonetheless. Discounts worth Rs 35,000 are available on the Sail U-Va, which isn’t much and worth ignoring since cars like the Figo are more worth your money.
Note: Above mentioned deals are available in Delhi. It may vary from city to city.
