Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is the brainchild of American film producer/director and car collector James Glickenhaus. It made a name for itself, at least amongst supercar enthusiasts not blinded by brand value, when it launched its first product - the SCG 003C, a 2-door, mid-engined, rear-wheel drive racecar powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 that develops 490PS/700Nm and is paired to a 6-speed sequential transmission. The SCG 003C is not to be scoffed at. It started from pole at this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours!

In February this year, the firm revealed the road-going SCG 003S (S for ‘Stradale’) with an aims to compete against the best supercars in the world. It shares most of the chassis with the race car. The 003S is powered by a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 developing 750PS/800Nm paired to a 7-speed sequential transmission. Those interested in buying this exclusive piece of machinery will have to shell out 1.3 million USD (Rs 8.44 crore), which drastically reduces the number of people who can afford it. Hence, SCG has come up with a second, more affordable offering called the 004S.

The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus 004S is a mid-engined supercar built with track racing in mind. If looking at the 004S reminds you of supercars of ages past, you will not be wrong. James Glickenhaus’s collection of supercars, including the one-off Ferrari P4/5 Pininfarina, is a great place to look for inspiration. The headlights definitely have an old-school Ferrari look about them.
Even from the side, the classic supercar proportions are evident. The large cabin dome stands out. The rear is a mad collection of aero-devices, twin exhaust pipes and a huge wing.

There is a good reason for the cabin dome to be as big as it is. The SCG 004S can seat three people! The driver sits in the middle, while two passenger seats are placed slightly back on either side of the driver. The setup is reminiscent of the famous McLaren F1 . Inside, the 004S looks the most retro - there are no digital dials and the base car is offered as standard with a gated-shifter! For a fee, customers can have the 004S fitted with a sequential gearbox with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. To keep the cabin from feeling too outdated, the folks at SCG have fitted the car with an iPhone dock.

Powering the SCG 004S will be a 5.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine developing 650PS of maximum power and 719Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels either via a 6-speed gated manual transmission or a sequential automatic transmission. The engine will have to propel a lightweight 1179kg carbon-fibre bodied car. So, expect performance numbers to be mindblowing.

The first units of the SCG 004S are expected to be delivered by mid-2019 with a base price starting at 400,000 USD (Rs 2.6 crore). The company has stated that a track-only version, capable of being raced in the GTE/GTLM and GT3 categories, will be available at a later stage.
