The concept behind the Subaru XV was ‘Urban Adventure’. Subaru’s rally DNA has been incorporated in the XV and the car has been set up to deliver excellent drive dynamics, superb performance and excellent manoeuvrability which is crucial for urban driving in a large crossover. The car has been aimed at being a practical, comfortable and spacious family vehicle for the family man who does not have to compromise performance in the name of practicality.

The XV has a roomy passenger cabin with a large cargo area at the back, the door opening dimensions have been enlarged and the seat position has been raised for easy ingress and egress. There is ample storage space for little bits and pieces all over the cabin, there is a Multi-Function Display (MFD) in the upper section of the centre console.
The front windows of the XV have been designed to reduce blind spots during cornering. The car gets driver/passenger airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags and driver’s knee airbag as standard in all variants. There is a Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) which integrates a control logic system with brake assist function to automatically operate the brakes to avoid collisions.

There are two new generation Subaru Boxer engine options for the XV, there is a 1.6 liter unit and a 2.0 liter unit. Both the engines are fuelled by the good stuff, petrol. The horizontally opposed Boxer engine layout optimises fuel efficiency and exhaust performance. The XV gets Subaru’s impeccable All-Wheel-Drive system. Power from the engine is sent to all four wheels via a Lineartronic (CVT) transmission. The Subaru XV gets a newly developed start stop system that turns off the engine at a set of lights, when the drivers depresses the throttle pedal again the engine starts and the car moves forward very quickly. This system further improves fuel economy. There is also a Subaru Boxer diesel engine on the cards.
The XV like every other Subaru will undoubtedly be a properly fun to drive car.
