SIAM furthers the diesel cause

With an aim to dispel myths about diesel technology and display the advancements in the technology worldwide, SIAM presented a unique initiative at Auto Expo '08 titled the 'Diesel City'.

The entire hall was dedicated to accomplishments in diesel engines and had participation from companies across the field like Skoda, Cummins India, Delphi TVS, Eicher, Fiat, Ford, Mahindra & Mahindra, MICO Bosch, Tata Motors and Indian Oil. Companies vied for attention by displaying models of their cutting edge diesel engines and technology being employed in current vehicles.

Proprietary technologies like Ford's DURAtech and MICO-Bosch's common-rail direct injection for diesel engines were put up for visitors to analyse and marvel at. Other displays worthy of mention were a tableau displaying the milestones in the history of diesel engine technology and a true-to-life Cummins engine which is used in trucks and heavy vehicles all over the world.
