Shell is a global market share leader in racing fuel and lubricants. The photo exhibition tries to engulf Shell’s shared passion for performance with Scuderia Ferrari over 60 years of their partnership in developing performance lubricants and fuel for motorsport. The 25 pictures on display at the exhibition showcase some of the never before seen images from Formula One which encapsulates the heritage of the technical partnership shared between two global leaders in the world of motorsport, that they have shared since 1947.

Shell Helix is a motor oil developed for motor racing since the beginning of the Formula One motor sport. Over the years Shell has worked side by side to understand the requirements from fuel and lubricants in racing to optimise performance and efficiency. The racing pedigree of these lubricants and fuels have made it onto the road as many mainstream car manufacturers use and recommend Shell lubricants in their road cars. As for Ferrari, every one of their high performance road cars leaves their factory with Shell lubricants running in their metal veins.
Shell’s Formula One Project Manager, Mr. Ian Albiston, on the occasion of the photo exhibition for the inauguration of the Formula One Indian Grand Prix, 2011, said, “Shell’s technical partnership with Scuderia Ferrari is one of the strongest and most established in the Formula One paddock, dating back to 1947. Ferrari’s success also depends on having the most technologically advanced fuels and lubricants in the sport, and so every Shell product in the car is tailor-made to get optimum performance in the Ferrari Formula One car. We have an on-going technical development programme, where up to 50 technical staff, based in the UK and Germany, spend over 21,000 R&D hours per year working closely with the Ferrari engineers in Italy. As always it is a pleasure to take the technical partnership to new venues and we are all really looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead at the 2011 Indian Grand Prix next month.”

450 Formula One races through their partnership Ferrari has won 10 World Constructors’ Championships and 12 Formula One World Drivers’ Championship. The number for World Constructor’s Championship would have been up by five, but since the Championship was set up later in 1958 the numbers are not added to the crown.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Donald Anderson, Country Head – Lubricants, Shell India Markets Pvt. Ltd., said: “Shell Helix is proud of its longstanding association with Ferrari and this is an opportunity for us to share our decades of magnificent history and experience with Formula One fans, enthusiasts and consumers in India. We are excited to host this photo exhibition that revives the age old memories of our association and will also give an opportunity to all Formula One enthusiasts to cherish the precious moments Shell has shared with Ferrari. We believe the Shell Helix photo exhibition will be the adventure of a lifetime and no one should miss the opportunity to join us in India.”

As the scarlet Formula One cars race past the grand stands in India later this year with their spine tingling V8 soundtracks, you will know that behind all that speed, pantomime and glory lies years of development and one of the finest motor racing partnerships ever.
