The Chinese automobile industry is growing in leaps and bounds with indigenous companies making every type of passenger vehicle. However, it is far from achieving world class levels of refinement and quality.
In line with the growth plans of the Chinese automobile industry, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile (an automobile company owned by the Chinese Government) has signed a contract with Ricardo for reviewing the design of Anhui Xingrui Gear Company’s gearboxes.
Ricardo will be assessing Xingrui’s technology in order to improve the quality, performance and efficiency of their gearboxes. Ricardo has conducted a shift quality assessment for two Xingrui gearboxes using the Ricardo Shift Quality Assurance (GSQA) System and carried out NVH assessments. The tests evaluated the gearboxes with commercially available products from competitor benchmarks.
The successes of the GSQA and NVH assessment projects have led to a new project. Ricardo will now work with Xingrui on a detailed design review of the Chinese company’s six-speed gearbox. Ricardo will seek to improve the gearboxes’ torque capacity, NVH levels and shift quality.
Alongside improving Xingrui’s gearboxes to a world-class level, Ricardo will also transfer skills and technology to Xingrui engineers to help the company improve its design and engineering capabilities.
Xingrui General Manager, Tao Cheng said, “We welcome the opportunity to extend our collaboration with Ricardo on transmission engineering. Xingrui is very proud of its transmission products and we continually seek to improve them for the benefit of our customers. Through our collaboration with Ricardo we hope to improve our current 6-speed transmission while also enabling our engineers to learn new skills and acquire new technologies from their Ricardo colleagues.”
