A report claims it will be called the 400Z

  • The sports car in question is expected to be powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6.
  • It is also rumoured to borrow styling inspirations from the 240Z and 300ZX.
  • Expect a global debut by early-2021.

We had earlier reported that Nissan might be coming out with a new logo soon. Along with that, we also found out that the Japanese carmaker is working on a new Z sports car that might be called the 400Z. A report now claims that the sports car is right on track and was supposed to be unveiled in 2020. But due to the current scenario, the 400Z will debut in 2021.

Now that’s great news as it’s been a long time since Nissan has been out of the sports car game. The 370Z is too long in the tooth now while the GT-R is also starting to show its age. Details are not elaborate at this point, but it is believed to be called the 400Z. The front end will be inspired by the iconic 240Z while the rear tail lights might remind us of the underdog, the 300ZX. The cabin will also be a fresh take with some inspiration from old Nissan sports cars. As of now, we can only speculate as all the details are under covers.

Under the hood will most likely be a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 from Infiniti. This motor from the VR family is expected to produce 400PS with the 0-100kmph sprint coming up in under 5 seconds. This front-engined rear-wheel-drive sports car will mostly make use of a dual-clutch while the possibilities of a manual gearbox can’t be ignored. Going with modern trends, the 400Z is also expected to incorporate various driver aids.

Nevertheless, the 400Z is a highly anticipated sports car. It will go up against BMW M2 Competition, Porsche Cayman, Toyota Supra, and the Alpine A110. We are excited to see the 400Z for the only reason that it takes inspiration from the 240Z/260Z/280Z, one of the best-looking cars to come out of Japan.
