MG Reveals ZS EV Variant List And Booking Amount

Bookings for the all-electric SUV will commence from December 21

  • There will be two variants on offer - Excite and Exclusive.
  • Excite misses out on panoramic sunroof, PM2.5 air filter and iSmart connected features.
  • The ZS EV uses an IP67 rated 44.5kWh battery pack that is mounted under the floor.

MG Motor India has announced that the all-electric ZS EV will be available in two variants: Excite and Exclusive. What's more? MG will start accepting bookings for the SUV from December 21 against a token amount of Rs 50,000. The all-electric SUV was first unveiled on December 5 in India while the launch is set to happen sometime in January 2020. In other news, the Euro-spec MG ZS EV has fared well in the Euro NCAP crash test, scoring an impressive five star rating.

Excite is the entry-level variant of the ZS EV and in contrast to the Exclusive, it misses out on roof rails, leather seats, dual-pane sunroof,PM2.5 air filter, 6-way adjustable driver seat, rain-sensing front wiper, power folding ORVMs, seat back pockets, iSmart EV 2.0 connected features, six speaker system and heated ORVMS. Nevertheless, the Excite variant gets features such as the 8-inch touchscreen, four speakers, six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system and ESP.  MG has also hinted that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support will soon be available for the ZS EV.

The ZS EV’s electric motor draws electricity from an IP67 rated 44.5kWh battery pack to  develop 143PS of power and 353Nm of torque. These figures translate to a 0-100kmph time of 8.5 seconds. MG claims the ZS EV is capable of covering 340km in a single charge. The carmaker has also equipped the SUV with fast charging capabilities enabling it to charge up from 0-80 percent in an hour. MG also offers a 7.4kWh wall box charger that can charge the SUV to 100 per cent in 6 to 8 hours.

Prices for both the variants will only be revealed once the SUV is launched in January 2020.  We expect it to range from Rs 23 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. The ZS EV will be available in five cities initially: Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. As of now, the only competition for the ZS EV comes in the form of Hyundai Kona Electric.
