Mazda's SKYACTIV technology has answered the prayers of many who want clean, efficient and fun to drive cars. Mazda's superb efforts have been acknowledged even before they have started implementing their new technology and they have won the 'Technology of the Year' award

Earlier this year Mazda had revealed their all new SKYACTIV technology which is based on advanced engines with high compression ratio, efficient transmission systems and lightweight sophisticated chassis technology for making greener and fun to drive cars. The Automotive Researchers’ and Journalists Conference of Japan (RJC) have awarded Mazda Motor Corporation’s new SYACTIV-G 1.3 petrol engine the 2012 ‘Technology of the Year’ award.

The SKYACTIV-G 1.3 litre petrol engine has been bestowed with the award for its lightweight design, significantly less internal friction and ultra high compression ratio of 14.0:1 which is the highest in any production engine in the world.  Based on the principle that less is more Mazda’s small SKYACTIV-G 1.3 petrol engine produces more torque, better fuel efficiency and lower emissions. As a result the engine pulls from low rpm under high load with ease. Special piston cavities designed to support ideal combustion combined with special multi-hole injectors enable extremely precise injection of fuel into the engine help increase power output and reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

The Mazda CX-5 compact SUV will be the first production Mazda to feature the full range of SKYACTIV technologies. The car will be launched in early 2012 across Europe. Come 2012 and the world will watch Mazda’s SKYACTIV transform the way cars are made.
