A teaser image reveals the more premium interiors and a few exterior details of the XL6 as well.

  • The XL6 MPV gets an all-black colour scheme unlike the Ertiga’s dual tone black-beige combo.
  • Gets leatherette upholstery and an all-black dashboard to feel more premium than the Ertiga.
  • Exterior image confirms the inclusion of LED headlamps.
  • Likely to be powered by Ertiga’s BS6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine.
  • The XL6 is scheduled to launch on August 21.

After teasing the upcoming premium MPV in a sketch, Maruti Suzuki has now given us a sneak peek at the interiors of the XL6. The teaser image was posted on the official Nexa website and reveals the interior features of the MPV. The XL6’s dashboard layout is almost the same as the Ertiga. However, it gets an all-black colour scheme which replaces the black-beige combo of the Ertiga. And if you pay close attention, you will notice that the light brown wooden insert on the dashboard has now been replaced by a darker trim. This along  with a silver insert ups the premium ante.

The teaser image also reveals the new seating layout of the Maruti XL6. It gets captain seats for the middle row which makes it a six seater. But occupants on these seats are expected to be more comfortable on longer journeys as they have their own armrests and recline options.

In terms of features, the teaser image reveals that the XL6 will get Maruti’s 7-inch Smartplay infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, power windows and a detailed MID.

Maruti has also teased the front fascia of the XL6 which confirms that it gets LED headlamps. The grille does away with the extensive chrome usage and instead uses a more subtle chrome slat which extends into the headlamps as a DRL. This along with the gun-metal grey alloy wheels will appeal to the more polished buyers.

Under the hood, the XL6 is expected to get the Ertiga’s BS6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol motor. It churns out 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque. While there will surely be a 5-speed manual transmission on offer, we also expect the 4-speed automatic to join the line up. The XL6 is unlikely to come with a diesel option as Maruti Suzuki will discontinue diesel models post implementation of BS6-emission norms in April 2020.

The XL6 MPV is slated to launch on August 21 and will be sold through Maruti’s premium Nexa outlets. Considering its premium tag, the XL6 is expected to  cost slightly more than the Ertiga’s top variant, which is priced at Rs 11.21 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The XL6 rivals the Mahindra Marazzo and Renault Lodgy.
