  • Leaked document suggested that the DCT would only be available with the GT X variant.
  • GT X variant misses out on features such as a Bose sound system and sunroof, among others.
  • Kia has now decided to offer the turbo-petrol motor and DCT with the top-spec GT X+ variant.
  • The 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine develops 140PS of power and 242Nm of peak torque.
  • The Kia Seltos will go on sale on August 22 with an expected starting price of Rs 10 lakh.

Last month, we received a leaked document revealing the Kia Seltos’ powertrain options and the variants they will be available in. Set to go on sale on August 22, the Seltos will be offered in two trims and eight variants. The leaked document revealed that the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor would only be available with the GT Line trim and to keep costs in check, the 7-speed DCT would be limited to the GT X variant. This meant that customers who chose the DCT option would have had to forgo goodies such as a premium Bose sound system and a sunroof that are offered in the GT X+ variant. But Kia has taken note and has now decided that it will offer the turbo petrol-DCT setup even in the top-spec GT X+ variant.

While the GT X gets features such as all-LED headlamps, a 10-25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, UVO connected car technology, Kia Sound Mood Lighting, a rearview camera, heads-up display, a 7-inch colour MID and push-button start, the GT X+ gets additional features like:

  • 400W 8-speaker Bose Sound System
  • Sunroof
  • Ventilated front seats
  • 8-way power driver’s seat
  • 360-degree camera
  • Blind view monitor
  • Front parking sensors.

The 1.4-litre T-GDI turbo petrol unit develops 140PS of power and 242Nm of torque. The turbo petrol unit is also the fastest in the Seltos lineup as it can propel the SUV from 0-100kmph in 9.7 seconds. And if fuel efficiency is what matters to you, the Seltos T-GDI has a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.5kmpl with the DCT and 16.1kmpl with the 6-speed manual gearbox.

Apart from that, the Seltos can also be had with a pair of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The manufacturer has revealed the performance and specifications of all the powertrains and you can read about it in detail here.
