Indo Indo German Joint Commission forms JWG for automotive sector

The Indo-German Joint Commission on Industrial and Economic Cooperation (JCM) announced the formation of Joint Working Group (JWG), with a view to further strengthening the ties between India and Germany in automotive sector.

Surajit Mitra Additional Secretary Department of Heavy Industries addressing the media said. "In the wake of global slowdown, this cooperation is very timely and will help in finding solutions to problems affecting the auto sector.'

The Group will also provide both countries an institutional framework to generate synergy in the auto sector for mutual development, he added.

The initiative will also lead to greater exchange of information and cooperation in the fields of research and development, sustainable alternative fuels and drives and automotive efficient engine technologies, Mitra added.

The Indo-German JWG decided to form three working sub-groups-: Technology,  Institutional Cooperation and Training and Skill Development Group.

Indo-German Joint Working Group (JWG) on Automotive Sector is the fourth JWG established under the aegis of Indo-German Joint Commission on Industrial and Economic Cooperation (JCM). The other three groups are in the areas of Coal, Infrastructure and Tourism. The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) is the nodal Department of Indo-German JCM. A host of German carmakers cater to the various needs of Indian auto industry. The prominent names include Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen
