After playing host to a successful pre-season testing event at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi last month, CEO of Machdar Motorsports and founder of the i1 Super Series, Darshan M announced the Indian/International line-up of drivers and the Race Calendar for the inaugural championship, the latter of which has now been heavily revised on account of the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls scheduled to be take place in early February.
A revised race schedule of the inaugural city based motorsport series will now see the first race commence in Doha, Qatar on February 10th and 11th, 2012 followed by races in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and India.
The fourth race of the original race calendar that was scheduled to take place at the Buddh International Circuit (25th/ 26th February) will now be the last race of the season, and will be held between 31st March and 1st April this year.

Speaking about the need for revised dates and locations before the start of the championship, Darshan M, CEO, Machdar Motorsports said, “Due to polling in Uttar Pradesh, the Buddh International Circuit was instructed by the district administration that they can’t host any public events around the dates of the elections.
“It is unfortunate that we have to postpone the start of our inaugural season, but since the Indian race is central to the interests of team owners and sponsors, we had to rework the entire race calendar. We have spoken to the team owners and our partners and they are totally behind this move,” he added.
Another significant change in terms of race locations for the motorsport series is the exclusion of Sepang, Malaysia which due to clashing dates has now been replaced with the Dubai Autodrome. The revised race schedule for the soon to begin i1 Super Series is as below.
