The 2010 Heritage Vehicle Senior Citizen Rally not only brought out the most beautiful cars from a bygone era, but also gave a chance to few lucky senior citizens to have a ride in them.

Vintage car rallies are probably the best way to go down memory lane and recall the times when these great relics ruled the roads. But when the reason behind such a rally is to give a chance to senior citizens to ride in these vehicles, it gives a whole new meaning to the occasion.

The Senior Citizen Rally was organized by the Heritage Vehicle Owners Club of Thane along with a NGO called Sparsh who came together to organize this dream event with a motive to give a special chance to senior citizens to enjoy a ride of lifetime in the very same vehicles, which they must have seen or even dreamt of owning, during their heydays.

Going down, Ghodbunder road in Thane was a 1967 Mercedes-Benz 200D, 1965 Mark-2, a 1962 Mini Minor, 1951 Austin A40 and a 1929 Austin 12 amongst other beautiful cars. As for motorcycles, there was a 1957 Innocenti and a 1963 Norton wowing the crowds. The special highlights of the event were a Heritage car rangoli, live band leading the convoy, traditional tilak ceremony of cars and passengers at three spots and the senior citizens leaning out of the sunroofs of Mercedes-Benz and Austin Devon to enjoy the flower showering.

All in all it was a great nostalgic Sunday with the purpose behind it all making it even more special.
