Hennessey Performance (HPE) is an automobile tuning company based in Texas. The owner, John Hennessey had only one motive in mind when he setup the company back in 1991, ‘to make cars go faster’. Over its two decade long lifespan Hennessey Performance have created some of the most mental performance cars on the planet with mind numbing performance figures. Of course, there is a by-product of all the added power and physics defying performance, its called evil.
And it’s that by-product which will attempt to make the HPE McLaren MP4-12C way more appealing than the standard car. Critics all over the world have admired the McLaren MP4-12C for its technical brilliance and phenomenal performance, but when it came to raw appeal, the MP4-12C fell behind with its plane-Jane looks and simplicity.
Hennessey will have sorted the worries of all those critics when they are done with their version of the MP4-12C. Hennessey will be replacing McLaren’s twin turbo unit and bolting their HPE800 Twin Turbo setup to the 3.8 litre V8 engine along with a host of other mechanical. The HPE McLaren MP4-12C will feature an upgraded intercooler, air intake, ball-bearing turbochargers, fuel management system, ECU, transmission cooler, transmission clutch system along with custom dyno-tuned engine calibration, titanium exhaust system, external wastegates, external blow-off valves and a Hennessey warranty package.

While all the go faster bits will squeeze every bit of performance out of the 3.8 litre McLaren V8, the HPE CarbonAero body upgrade will increase downforce while the Monoblock wheels, custom interior upgrades consisting of carbon fibre, alacantra and leathers will make the car lighter and the Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tyres will ensure the car sticks to the road while putting all the power down.
While Hennessey will work on all the go faster bits they do not plan to offer any upgrades to the suspension and brakes on the HPE McLaren MP4-12C as they feel that it will be difficult to improve upon the spot on factory settings.
The end result will be an MP4-12C supercar with over 800PS of power. That is hypercar territory! As for appeal, the new aerodynamic package will seriously up the ante on the one aspect that the MP4-12C fell short.
“We’ve been taking fast cars and have been making them faster for over twenty years,” said company founder and President John Hennessey. “I spent a lot of time around the new 12C at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed and was very impressed. We’re excited to have the opportunity to take a great car and give it our own special performance touch while giving 12C owners a uniquely aggressive appearance”.
