Ferrari has been making the finest supercars on the planet for several decades and there is a very good reason for that. Ferrari have made some of the best race cars ever and their motorsport pedigree shows in their road going supercars. The importance of motorsport has been proved by Ferrari yet again as they reveal a new performance pack for the already Formula One derived 599XX race car.

The Evolution Package for the 599XX will be available to clients participating in track-based research programme for the 2012-2013 seasons. The new Evolution Package for the Ferrari 599XX consists of an active aerodynamics package, new Pirelli tyres, a modified front splitter and a new rear diffuser with a larger surface area, redesigned fences and foot plates. The active aerodynamics package consists of a new technical wizardry feature called ‘Opening gap’.
The clever new active rear wing has two flaps (similar to the ones used on a Formula One car) which rotate electronically to adjust the amount of downforce provided to the front and rear wheels so as to have optimum downforce at different speeds around different types of corners. The angle of the active rear wing is altered automatically based on steering wheel angle, vehicle speed, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration and is integrated to the car’s other computer controlled functions such as ESP, ABS, SCM and F1 Trac.
The end result is a total downforce of 330 kg when the flaps are open and 440 kg when they are closed at 200 km/h. Also, the Evolution pack gives the cars side exhausts which help increase power output by another 20 PS resulting in a total power output of 750 PS from the 6.0 litre V12 engine.
The Ferrari 599XX with the Evolution Pack and a slightly shorter gear ratio has lapped Ferrari’s test track at Fiorano in 1:15 as compared to the road going 599 GTO which did it in 1:24.
