The festive buzz is already in full swing, and September 2025 is set to become a treat for car lovers with not one or two, but six new launches lined up. Things will kick off with Maruti’s big event, followed closely by VinFast’s official entry into our market. Curious to know about the cars coming up? Here’s the full lineup you should keep an eye on this month:

Maruti Escudo

  • Launch Date: September 3

  • Expected Price: Rs 9.7 lakh (ex-showroom)

Maruti is bringing in a brand-new SUV, likely to be sold through Arena showrooms and could be named ‘Escudo’. It will sit between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. The SUV is expected to be underpinned by Suzuki’s Global C platform, stretched a little to carve out more cabin space.

Inside, you’ll probably see a fresh cabin layout (not just a Grand Vitara copy), but features are expected to be familiar: think of a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and maybe even ADAS. Maruti might even throw in a bigger touchscreen to set this one apart. Engine duties should be handled by a 1.5-litre petrol with mild-hybrid tech, a strong-hybrid option as well as a CNG.

Mahindra Thar Facelift

  • Launch Date: End of September

  • Expected Price: Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom)

The OG lifestyle SUV is finally getting a nip and tuck! The Thar 3-door has been rocking the market since 2020, but Mahindra now plans to give it some fresh updates with test mules hinting design tweaks inspired by the larger Thar Roxx.

Feature upgrades should include a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, a full-digital driver’s display, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and TPMS. Engines are expected to stay the same: petrol and diesel, with both manual and automatic gearboxes. The rear-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive options will also continue.

VinFast VF7

  • Launch Date: September 6, 2025

  • Expected Price: Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom)

The VinFast VF7 was showcased earlier at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and is soon set to be launched in India. It’ll be available in three trims, six body colours, and two interior themes.

Globally, the VF7 comes with creature comforts like an 8-way powered driver’s seat, a panoramic glass roof, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate, HUD, and up to eight airbags. Plus, you get Level-2 ADAS and a 70.8 kWh battery pack, with both single- and dual-motor options. Range? A claimed 496 km.

VinFast VF6

  • Launch Date: September 6

  • Expected Price: Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom)

Fancy something smaller than the VF7 from VinFast? Then you should consider the VF6! Production has already started at their Tamil Nadu plant, and the VF6 will come in two variants, six paint shades, and two cabin themes.

Expect the VF6 to pack in plenty of niceties: ventilated seats, a large touchscreen, HUD, multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and even level-2 ADAS. Under the skin, it’s powered by a 59.6 kWh battery with a single motor, delivering up to 410 km of range.

Citroen Basalt X

  • Expected Launch Date: September 5

  • Expected Price: Rs 14.13 lakh (ex-showroom)

After the C3X, Citroen is spicing things up with the Basalt X. Its bookings are already open for Rs 11,000. You can expect some subtle design tweaks, a more upmarket cabin experience, and some added features such as ambient lighting.

Other equipment should be familiar with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, wireless phone charger, six airbags, ISOFIX, and TPMS. Under the hood, it will continue with the same 1.2-litre NA and turbo-petrol engines, with manual and automatic options.

Volvo EX30

  • Expected Launch Date: End of September

  • Expected Price: Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom)

Volvo’s smallest EV yet is finally coming to India. The EX30 sits below the EX40 in the lineup but still looks every bit premium with a futuristic design that includes Thor hammer DRLs, 19-inch aero alloys, and sleek L-shaped tail lamps.

The cabin is clean and minimal, with a dual-tone colour scheme and a big 12.3-inch touchscreen in the middle. Standard features should include a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charger, seven airbags, 360-degree camera, and ADAS. The India-spec EX30 will get a 69 kWh battery pack with a single rear-wheel drive 272 PS e-motor, offering a WLTP range of 480 km.

ZigSays…

September is packed, and there’s something here for everyone, from budget SUVs like the Maruti Escudo to premium EVs like the Volvo EX30. Meanwhile, VinFast’s India debut will grab the spotlight. The VF6 and VF7 could shake things up big time in the EV market if priced smartly. For enthusiasts, though, the Thar facelift will probably be the most exciting wait.
