The commercial vehicles industry is quite a intense one in India and in the past few years it's the inherent cyclicity that has prolonged more than usual throwing numerous challenges at the players. Despite such challenges the commercial vehicles industry holds tremendous potential. And, fuelling this surge is the First Edition of the ET ZigWheels Commercial Vehicles Conclave 2015. 

Anant Geete, Union Minister, Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises, said, “India has tremendous potential in the Commercial Vehicles Segment and we need to feed this potential by working in union with the manufacturers. And at this ET ZigWheels Commercial Vehicles Conclave 2015 I assure that they will get all the support possible from the government.” 

Nitin Gadkari addresses the conclave through the video and touched on various new government policies and schemes. He also stated that the government is planning to open close to 10,000 truck driving schools across the country and also spoke about developing water transport along with surface transport.

This first ET ZigWheels Commercial Vehicles Conclave 2015, will include three panel discussions with some very renowned names from the industry. 

The first of these will see VG Ramakrishnan, MD Frost and Sullivan, Ravindra Pishrody Executive Director, Commercial Vehicles,Tata Motors, Anders Grundstromer, MD Scania India, Rajiv Saharia President Trucks, Ashok Leyland, Jasjit Sethi, CEO TCI, SM Bafna, Chairman Bafna Industries and Ketan Thakkar, Special Correspondent for the Automotive Sector at Economic Times discussing the strong rise in the medium and heavy truck sales,  the advantages of this growth and how sustainable this growth can be. 

The second panel comprising of Bal Malkit Singh, Former President All India Motor Transport Congress, Andirudh Bhuwalka, MD and CEO AMW Motors Ltd, Rakesh Batra, MD Ernst & Young, Abhijit Gajendragadkar, Senior  VP Business Planning Tata Motors, Jasjit Sethi, CEO TCI and Rakesh Agarwal, MD Agarwal, Movers and Packers, will discuss Goods and Service Tax (GST) and its implications. 

The third and last panel of the day, with Ashok Shah, Chairman V-Trans Group, Sunil Chaturvedi, CEO ASDC and Umesh Ravenkar, MD, Shriram Transport Finance Ltd., will diverse the discussion to a more grass root level. 

At this one of its kind event, ET and ZigWheels has tried to set a platform for all the like-minded to meet, discuss and envision a brighter and greener future for the commercial vehicles industry.
