BMW Motorrad is set to launch two of its entry-level products, the G 310 R and the G 310 GS, tomorrow. We expect the G 310 R to be priced at Rs 3 lakh ex-showroom, while its adventure-tourer version, the G 310 GS, is likely to command a premium of Rs 50,000. For the naked Bavarian, chief rivals in the segment include the KTM 390 Duke, Benelli TNT 300, Bajaj Dominar 400 and the Mahindra Mojo XT 300. Here’s how the BMW fares against its competition in terms of specs: Spec Comparo: G 310 R vs Rivals.
The baby GS, on the other hand, competes with Royal Enfield Himalayan and the more expensive Kawasaki Versys-X 300. The G 310 GS was recently spotted at a dealership in Chennai, ahead of its launch. Read more about it here. Bookings for both the motorcycle are open for a token amount of Rs 50,000. Sure, it sounds a bit too much for an entry-level motorcycle, but you can’t deny the fact that it’s a BMW.
The G 310 R and the G 310 GS share the same 313cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine that’s good for 34PS at 9500rpm, and 28Nm at 7500rpm, paired with a 6-speed transmission. While both motorcycles employ 41mm inverted front forks and a rear monoshock, the GS gets 180mm of travel up front, which is 40mm more than the G 310 R. Meanwhile, the G 310 GS’ rear monoshock too gets 180mm of travel, which is 49mm more than the G 310 R. Both motorcycles feature dual-channel ABS as standard, with a 300mm front and a 240mm rear disc brake.
