BMW India has added another variant to its popular mid-sized sedan in the form of the 520d M Sport and it has been priced at Rs 54 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. This new variant will be produced in India locally and will be available in three colour options – Alpine White, Mediterranean Blue and Carbon Black. BMW will continue to sell the standard 520d along with this M Sport edition. The Munich-based carmaker already has the more powerful 530d in an M Sport avatar on sale.
The 520d M Sport comes with the ‘M’ package which includes a revised front bumper with larger air intakes as well as remoulded rear bumper, side skirts and double–spoke design 18-inch alloy wheels. The 520d M Sport also comes with adaptive LED headlights. To distinguish it from the standard model, the 520d M Sport has the ‘M’ badge on the front fender and the door sill.
The overall layout of the dashboard remains unchanged, with buyers getting multiple leather upholstery options to choose from. The 520d M Sport also gets the 25.9cm colour screen in the centre, height adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control and more. The only noticeable change in the interior is the M multifunction steering wheel.
At the heart of things, though, the 520d M Sport comes with the same 1,995cc 4-cylinder diesel unit that pumps power of 190 horses and makes maximum torque of 400Nm. The engine comes mated to an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. BMW claims that the 520d M Sport can do the 0-100kmph dash in just 7.7 seconds and attain a max speed of 233kmph.
This is the fifth variant to be added in the 5-Series model range and the second M Sport offering. BMW also brought in the 520i to India recently via the CBU route. Interestingly, the 520i too has been priced at Rs 54 lakh.
