Audi Has Just Slashed Its Q5 and Q7 SUV Prices By Upto Rs 6 Lakh In India

• The Q5 crossover will now cost Rs 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India) for both 40 TDI and 45 TFSI models.
• A Q7 SUV will now cost you Rs 68.99 lakh for the Premium Plus 45 TFSI variant, while the 45 TDI trim will come at Rs 71.99 lakh.
• Audi plans to launch nine new cars in India next year.

After a brief quiet spell, Audi is back in the news. The German carmaker is set to revamp its portfolio with nine upcoming launches including the A6 sedan, which was unveiled on October 24. It’s been a decade since the two SUVs first came to India, and to celebrate the anniversary, the carmaker has reduced the price of the Premium Plus trims of the Q5 and Q7 sport utility vehicles (SUVs) by up to Rs 5.3 lakh and Rs 6.02 lakh, respectively. For a limited time period, the pan-India ex-showroom prices of the Q5 will start at Rs 49.99 lakh for both 40 TDI diesel and 45 TFSI petrol variants. A Premium Plus Q7 will set you back by Rs 68.99 lakh for the 45 TFSI petrol and Rs 71.99 lakh for the 45 TDI diesels. The new prices make the two SUVs even more competitive in their respective luxury segments.

Audi brought the second-generation Q5 crossover in January 2018. It was based on the Volkswagen MLB Evo platform, which was 65kg lighter than before, and came equipped with quattro all-wheel-drive, adaptive dampers and a Bang and Olufsen audio system. and At the time of launch, the Premium Plus entry-level diesel variant, the 35 TDI, was priced at Rs 53.25 lakh ex-showroom. It currently rivals the BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC.

The German carmaker launched the refreshed Q7 SUV in India in 2014. Marketed as a soft-roader, the Q7 looked like a crossover-station-wagon. The model line was refreshed for a third time earlier this year, and the new Q7 is expected to come to India sometime next year. Currently, the full-size SUV competes in our market with the BMW X5, Volvo XC90, Range Rover Velar, and the Mercedes-Benz GLE.

Audi believes the price reduction will make the Q5 and Q7 more accessible. The Head of Audi India, Balbir Singh Dhillon, was quoted in the press release as saying, "As these two immensely popular models from our portfolio complete a decade in India, we want to reward our customers and Audi enthusiasts with special prices. This celebratory pricing will make our iconic Q-models accessible to luxury enthusiasts."
