2020 Honda City Scores 5 Stars In ASEAN NCAP Crash Test

The 2020 Honda City has scored a full five stars and 86.54 points in the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash test. Currently, the 2020 City is only sold in Thailand. Plans to launch it in India have been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Based on a new platform, the 2020 City will rival the 2020 Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Toyota Yaris. It features an all-new exterior and interior design, wider and longer dimensions, and more equipment than the outgoing model. It is likely to be powered by BS6 petrol and diesel engines paired with 5- and 6-speed manual or CVT automatic transmissions. We expect it to be priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

ASEAN NCAP has given the City 44.83 points for adult occupant protection, 22.82 points for child occupant protection, and 18.89 points for safety assist technologies. These scores are out of 50, 25, and 25, respectively.

In thailand, the 2020 City gets six airbags and blind-spot visualisation on the infotainment screen. It also has a tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, ABS, and an emergency stop signal. In India, dual front airbags, ABS, and parking sensors are mandatory fitment. The City's advanced safety features are unlikely to be offered on higher-spec models.

ASEAN NCAP tested the City based on the new testing and scoring policy which assesses the car’s safety assist technologies in addition to impact tests. The City’s results complement its resume as a family car. We can’t wait for the first drive!
