It also gets nifty features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Blue Link connected car tech, LED ambient lighting, and a wireless phone charger. It also comes with Hyundai Smartsense with safety assists like high beam assist, parking collision avoidance assist, and lane keep assist.

Under the hood, it will be powered by 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines in different states of tune. The 1.2-litre motor develops 84PS of power and will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox like the current car. The 1.0-litre T-GDi motor will be offered in 100PS and 120PS state of tune, paired to a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed manual transmission. The turbo-petrol will also be offered with a 48v mild-hybrid system as an option on the 100PS variant and standard on the 120PS variant. Expect the India-spec i20 to get the 1.2-litre Kappa and the Venue’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol motors. A diesel option is likely to be a detuned 1.5-litre engine from the Kia Seltos.

It is likely that the 2020 Hyundai i20 will hit Indian shores by mid-2020. Expect a hefty premium over the current hatchback which is priced from Rs 5.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Post launch, it will take on the likes of the Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza as well as the Honda Jazz.
