MG debuts the ZS HEV (Astor facelift) at the Auto Expo 2025. It boasts a new design, an upgraded interior and a strong hybrid powertrain. While it is not confirmed if the updated Astor in India would be offered with the hybrid powertrain or not, we expect it to get the same design changes and interior upgrades as seen on the ZS HEV. Here is a more detailed look at the ZS HEV:
The ZS HEV introduces a revamped fascia which gets a new grille that is positioned lower (than the current Astor) and the MG logo now takes position on the hood. It comes with sleeker headlights and gets a new signature for the LED DRLs. The bumper has been updated as well with C-shaped air dams and there is a silver skid plate to round off the front look.
It sports a new design for the alloy wheels but the silhouette remains the same. The rear comes with refreshed LED tail lamps, a new tailgate and a new bumper.
Globally, the updated Astor gets a tweaked interior with a slew of new features. The cabin comes with a new darker scheme and also sports a newly designed steering wheel which has a sporty-looking flat top and bottom design.
In terms of equipment, it comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment system which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, keyless entry, and a six-way electrically adjustable driver's seat. Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, 360-degree camera, rain-sensing wipers and level-2 ADAS features.
Internationally, the Astor facelift comes with a sole strong-hybrid powertrain which comprises a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which alone produces 102 PS, and along with the electric motor it makes a combined 196 PS and 465 Nm. With so much power on tap, it goes from 0-100 kmph in just 8.7 seconds. There is a possibility of MG introducing the hybrid powertrain in India, along with the NA petrol and turbo-petrol engine options.
When launched in India, the new Astor will be offered at a premium over the current model, which is priced from Rs 9.98 lakh to Rs 18.07 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival compact SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, VW Taigun and Honda Elevate.
