  • Pre-launch bookings underway and it will come in five trims.
  • Offered with naturally aspirated and strong-hybrid petrol powertrain options.
  • Prices expected to be announced at Auto Expo 2023.

Are you itching to have a closer look at Toyota’s latest offering, the Innova Hycross? Well fret not as our dealer sources have suggested that the MPV will be on display in the showroom from early-January onwards. Even test drives are expected to commence once the MPV starts reaching showrooms.

Toyota took the wraps off the India-spec Innova Hycross on November 25. Pre-launch bookings are underway for a token amount of Rs 50,000 and the MPV will be offered in five broad trims: G, GX, VX, ZX, and ZX (O). Like before, the Innova will continue to come with three rows of seating, with either captain seats or a bench for middle row occupants.

It’s a completely different animal underneath the skin when compared to the Innovas of the past.  For starters, it’s based on a new monocoque chassis instead of the traditional body-on-frame platform. Plus, the Innova is now front-wheel drive instead of rear-wheel drive. Also, there’s no diesel engine on offer, but you get two petrol units.

The base option is a 174PS, 2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine limited to the lower variants. However, if you want a much more frugal option, then you should consider the 186PS, 2-litre strong-hybrid powertrain that has a claimed mileage of 21.1kmpl. Plus, no manual gearbox with both engines, but a CVT and e-CVT are offered on the petrol and hybrid powertrain respectively.

Prices for the Innova Hycross are expected to be announced at Auto Expo 2023 and we expect them to range between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a more apt rival to the Kia Carnival, while being a premium alternative to the Kia Carens and Mahindra Marazzo. Meanwhile, check out the first drive review to know our impressions of the MPV.
