This is the 2023 Honda CR-V, the carmaker’s newest version of its SUV that breaks cover in America. The sixth generation SUV boasts more rugged styling, a minimalistic interior, and gets a hybrid powertrain for cleaner intentions. It’s also one of the carmaker’s best-selling models in the USA.
The Honda CR-V trades its crossover appeal for a more rugged pair of clothes and an upright stance. The upright nose featuring a large honeycomb mesh grille, flanked by a pair of sleek LED headlights, is more in-your-face. Moving to the profile, it gets flared wheel arches for more muscle and clean lines with an upright silhouette, giving it more SUV-like vibes. The tall tail lamps that wrap around the tailgate definitely harks back to its predecessor and rounds off the overall design.
Interior Design
If you’ve set foot in the new-gen Civic, then the CR-V’s cabin will seem like a familiar place as the dashboard has been inspired by the sedan. It’s a clean and minimalist design with a floating touchscreen infotainment system and faux AC vents that run across the width of the dashboard. It also gets plenty of features, which we’ll talk about next.
Features Onboard
The CR-V boasts plentiful of new features, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital driver’s display, Bose sound system, a 15w wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, a sunroof, and keyless entry with push button start.
Passenger safety is taken care of by up to 10 airbags, electronic stability control, hill descent control, and Honda’s Sensing ADAS suite that we have seen in the new City hybrid in India.
Engine Options
The 2023 Honda CR-V gets two petrol engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (base) and a 2-litre strong hybrid powertrain. Both engines drive all four wheels via a CVT ‘box. Plus, there are driving modes, including a new Snow mode, that alter the settings of the powertrain depending on the terrain you’re driving.
Take a look at the specifications:

Honda had discontinued the CR-V’s predecessor, which was brought to India as a CKD offering, due to the production closure of its Greater Noida plant. And we don’t see the new-gen model coming to our shores anytime soon. The CR-V’s rivals in India are the Citroen C5 Aircross, Hyundai Tucson, and Jeep Compass.
