Passenger safety is secured by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. More importantly, the Punch has got an impressive five-star rating in the Global NCAP safety test.

Under the hood is an 86PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual and an optional 5-speed AMT. Going forward, the SUV could get a 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and an all-electric powertrain.

The Tata Punch is priced between Rs 5.49 lakh and Rs 9.09 lakh (ex-showroom), overlapping its premium hatchback sibling, the Tata Altroz. At these prices, the Punch is an alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 Nxt, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
