The center will birth both two- and four-wheelers and the company has set aside around Rs 750 crore for the project

Ola Electric is going global, and to that end, it has announced the new Ola FutureFoundry R&D centre. This news comes soon after the company recently received funding worth around Rs 1,400 crore

The Ola FutureFoundry will be set up in Coventry, UK. All vehicle engineering and designing of the company's future EVs (two- and four-wheelers) will be carried out there.

The folks at the Ola FutureFoundry will work in tandem with the company's Bengaluru team. As of now, the company has set aside a generous $100 million (around Rs 750 crore) for this project, and it'll be invested over a five-year period.

Along with vehicle R&D, the center will also work on battery cell technology, which could help Ola improve the range of its offerings while cutting down production costs.

Ola plans to appoint around 200 designers and automotive engineers at the FutureFoundry.

Last year, the company debuted its first EV, the S1 e-scooter, in India. It comes in two variants: standard (Rs 99,999) and Pro (Rs 1,29,999). Both prices ex-showroom Delhi, FAME-II benefits included.

The company has now opened the second purchase window for the S1 Pro e-scooter.
