It’s powered by a 725PS naturally aspirated V12, making it the most powerful production SUV

  • New Ferrari Purosangue is a low-slung SUV with SF90 Stradale and GTC4 Lusso-inspired aesthetics.

  • Powered by 725PS/716Nm V12 engine good for 0-100kmph in 3.3 seconds.

  • Production already underway, should make it to India in 2023.

The wait is finally over – Ferrari has taken the wraps off its first-ever SUV model, the Purosangue. It’s set to go on sale in overseas markets in 2023, and an India launch should be on the cards next year, too.

Jaw-dropping styling of the Purosangue

The Purosangue is a low-slung SUV with a wide, squat stance, distinct from the upright stature of its rival, the Lamborghini Urus. It has a split-headlight setup at the front, reminiscent of the SF90 Stradale, with a full-width grille and air dam below. It looks more like a raised hatchback with its long clamshell bonnet and proportions that remind us of the GTC4 Lusso.

At the rear, the Purosangue gets split taillights and a notchback tailgate, with a massive black plastic trim piece and diffuser placed below the bumper. Its big-displacement engine breathes through quad exhausts that jut out from under the bumper.

Interestingly, the Purosangue features suicide doors similar to Rolls Royce vehicles. Inside, the four-seater offers a driver-centric theme – there is no infotainment screen at the centre. Instead, the driver gets a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and another display is present on the passenger side.

Powerful V12 engine under the bonnet

While other carmakers have switched to smaller-displacement engines (even Ferrari’s own 295 GTB and GTS get V6 engines), the Purosangue sings a V12 tune. Its 6.5-litre, 12-cylinder petrol engine makes 725PS and 715Nm. That’s enough to get you to 100kmph from standstill in just 3.3 seconds. It also offers a top speed of 310kmph.
