2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Review| Pricier! Techier! Better?

Maruti Suzuki has silently re-introduced the mild-hybrid tech in the Brezza’s higher-end ZXI and ZXI+ variants. It was earlier removed across the entire manual variant lineup and as a result, fuel efficiency took a hit. But with the re-introduction of the manual variants in the higher-end variants, the Brezza has better claimed fuel efficiency numbers in the updated variants.

It’s still powered by the familiar 1.5-litre petrol engine, teamed with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. And in the ZXI and ZXI+ manual variants, the fuel efficiency has seen an improvement from 17.38 kmpl to 19.89 kmpl. The lower-end manual model without mild-hybrid tech continues to return 17.38 kmpl.

The Brezza’s mild-hybrid tech has a small electric motor that provides additional torque assist when putting your foot down. Not only that, it also has an integrated starter with idle start stop, improving fuel efficiency.
