Ever since Mahindra opened bookings for the XUV700 on the morning of October 7, it's been off to a flying start with 25,000 bookings done in just 57 minutes! That momentum continues to go from strength to strength, as the SUV has crossed the 50,000 bookings mark within two hours of the second day’s bookings commencing.

Keep in mind, not a single delivery has been made to any customer, and Mahindra will announce delivery dates on October 10. While Mahindra initially projected a waiting period of six months for the already-booked XUV700s, expect these periods to shoot up soon partly due to the global semiconductor shortages causing disruptions in global supply chains.

Now that the second set of 25,000 bookings has been surpassed, the prices at the time of deliveries will be applicable. This batch of XUV700 SUVs retailed from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 22.99 lakh ( ex-showroom, pan-India). It is offered in the MX and AX (AdrenoX) trims, with the latter spreading out to the AX3, AX5, and AX7 variants.

While the hype for the XUV700 is very much real, we hope the demand doesn’t lead to excruciatingly long waiting periods like was the case with the Thar. Anyway, this shouldn’t deter the XUV700 from taking on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Tata Harrier/Safari, MG Hector/Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar.
